Takurua Terrace sits in a newer part of Orewa, within easy reach of the beach, local shops and the Northern Motorway. The site falls away sharply from the road, so the house is carried on piles with a deck built out at the lower level to recover usable outdoor space. White weatherboard under a dark long-run roof keeps the form simple and lets the elevation do the work. Sliding doors open the living areas straight onto the deck, which holds sun through the afternoon.
